How To Be A Better Travel Companion
Many women have been taking solo travel adventures around the globe. And even if you are a frequent solo traveler, there are likely still times you’re looking for a travel companion. This can be you sister, a good friend, a significant other, or even a new travel companion.
Whether you’re trying to travel smoother with someone you’re close to or your picking a new travel buddy there are things that can make you a better travel companion.
Find Someone with the Same Budget Priorities
In whatever type of relationship, money can be a big tension point. Do you like luxury hotels? Or would you rather break the bank on your food budget? You’ll want to find someone who shares similar things they want to save money on and similar things they’re willing to splurge on.
Make Sure to Have Alone Time
If it’s a short trip you might be able to spend a full weekend together, but even then it’s good to spend a little time apart. This might be reading a book in a cafe or there could be something one of you wants to explore that isn’t important to the other. Being a great travel companion also means you can do a little solo travel at the same time.
Discuss the Pace You’ll Travel
About as important as budget, is what pace do you travel at. Do you want to spend the entire time running from activity to activity? Do you want to spend more time relaxing? Also, are you an on-time person or do you tend to run a little late?
You might not find the perfect balance but being on the same page is a great spot to start. After that, it’s finding patience when your travel partner and you are at different speeds.
Go with the Flow
Travel rarely goes how you plan it. That’s part of the fun, it is also pretty stressful. Being able to go with the flow will make you a better travel companion. Instead of getting frustrated, especially with your travel buddy, just find a spot to read or grab a drink and wait for the challenges to pass.
Have an Opinion on What You Want to Do
From the planning stage to where you want to grab dinner that night. Have an opinion! You don’t want to force your travel companion to do what you want every time, but not having an opinion can be even more frustrating. So when you want something specific to be sure to let you travel buddy know. But be sure to let them win a few times or find a compromise when what you want doesn’t match.
Find Yourself the Ideal Travel Companion
Sometimes you have the perfect travel buddy in your life, but other times either timing doesn’t work, where you want to go doesn’t match, or you might be looking for something different. Finding a new travel companion can be a challenge. Lioness Travel is working to make it easy as possible so stay tuned and be sure to sign up for updates on our travel buddy app releasing soon.
